[Name Yourself]

Adding your real name with gender pronoun before joining the Zoom meeting.

 

[Mute Audio]

Please keep your audio muted when you’re not talking. This will help reduce background noise and increase the quality of sound for the presenter.

 

[Camera On]

Please keep your camera on and show your face during the conference, in order to increase the engagement of all participants and speakers.

 

[Avoid Being Disruptive]

You are recommended to type your question into the chat, so as to maintain the flow of a presentation.

 

[Be Attentive]

You can use zoom reactions to show you’re being attentive, in the form of emoji and icons.

 

[Prepare Questions]

Watch the videos from the presenters in advance. The links of videos are shown in the timetable of the conference, above the abstracts of each paper. Preparing questions shows your interest, dedication, and enthusiasm, and it helps to keep the conversation going.

[Download]

If you are a first time Zoom user, you can click https://zoom.us/download to download the Zoom application on your computer or mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, in advance.

 

[Change Your Name]

Zoom lets you change your name before each meeting you enter. By default this is the name on your account, however, you can change it before you join a meeting. When you use a link to join a meeting on Zoom, it will automatically bypass the option to change your name and directly have you join the meeting.

 

[Join the Meeting]

You can join a meeting by clicking the buttons on the pages of “DAY 1” and “DAY 2”. No password is needed.

 

[Audio Setting]

On most devices, you can join computer/device audio by clicking “Join Audio”, “Join with Computer Audio”, or “Audio” to access the audio settings.

Please keep your audio muted when you’re not talking. This will help reduce background noise and increase the quality of sound for the presenter. To do this, click on the “Mute Microphone” icon on the bottom left corner of your screen.

 

[Video Setting]

Please keep your camera on and show your face during the conference, in order to increase the engagement of all participants and speakers. To do this, click on the “Camera” icon on the bottom left corner of your screen.

 

[Virtual Background]

You can upload your own images or videos as a virtual background, or use nothing and just blur the background instead.

If you would like to enable the Virtual Background feature before the meeting, you can click on your icon on the top right corner of the Zoom window and go to “Setting”. Navigate to the “Background & Filters” and add your the image by clicking on the ⊕ icon.

If you would like to change the Virtual Background during the meeting, click on the ˄ icon beside “Start Video” and add your the image by clicking on the ⊕ icon.

[Reactions]

You can use zoom reactions on the “Reactions” button to show you’re being attentive, in the form of emoji and icons.

You can tap the “Raise Hand” icon to join the voting or before asking questions.

You may also make good use of the chat room by typing your thoughts and questions in as well.

 

[Leave the Meeting]

Click “End” or “Leave Meeting” on the bottom right corner if the session has ended.

[Devices]

Please avoid using mobile devices. It is best to use a computer or laptop.

You are recommended to use the latest version of Google Chrome or Firefox for the best experience.

[Join the Room]

You can join the SpatialChat room simply by clicking at the url link (buttons on the conference pages). Download is not required.

[Entering the Room]

When you enter any room, you will see only a small part of the whole room. You can choose a scale of the screen after entering the room, clicking on the right bottom button, and choose the best option. You may also use the scroll wheel or do it by tapping your device’s screen to change zoom settings.

[Circles]

A circle or bubble shows your position in space. With your camera on, it will show your video stream. With your camera off, it will show your profile picture if you uploaded it before signing in. If not, it will show the first letter of your name.

[Add Image]

You can share any objects in the Space (images, GIFs, videos, text&links) with the ⊕ button on the bottom panel.

For example, to add an image, click ‘Add Image’ and drag-and-drop or paste the object. The preferable option for an image file format is JPG, JPEG, or PNG format.

You can control your added image or other objects by clicking on it (resize, pin or delete).

Accessibility

DEL conference organizers strive to make our online conference accessible for all those that want to participate.

[Audio]
Live transcription of presenter audio in sessions has been enabled in Zoom and should be on by default. If live transcription is not visible in a session, please use the request feature in Zoom or enter a request in the chat and a session administrator will help.

To request live transcription in Zoom, you can request the host enable for this meeting without interrupting them directly. 

  1. Click Live Transcript . You will be prompted to confirm your request to have live transcription enabled by the host. 
  2. (Optional) Click Ask Anonymously to make this request without your name tied to it. The host will just be notified that a participant in the meeting would like this feature enabled. 
  3. Click Request to confirm. Once the host approves the request, live transcription will begin.
